Common questions
FAQ
What areas do you cover?
Rockford, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Roscoe, Rockton, and Belvidere in Winnebago and Boone County. If you're just outside those, ask anyway.
How much does ceramic coating cost?
Coating starts around $1,499. Final price depends on vehicle size, paint condition, coating tier, or how much of the car is wrapped in film. Get a firm number before anything is scheduled.
Do you offer paint protection film?
Yes, both partial-front coverage and full-vehicle PPF.
Which service is right for my car: coating, correction, or PPF?
Correction fixes existing swirls and scratches. Coating protects the paint going forward from UV, chemicals, and road salt. PPF physically blocks rock chips and debris impacts. Many owners combine correction with coating, and add PPF on the front end for the most exposed panels.
How long does the whole process take?
A straightforward coating job with light correction can be done in a day. Heavier correction, full-vehicle PPF, or a combination package takes longer, since each stage has to be assessed before moving to the next.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, this isn't a walk-in service. Book ahead through the quote form.

How long does ceramic coating last?
Depending on the product tier and how the vehicle is maintained afterward, a professional coating typically holds up for two to five years before it needs reapplication.
Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips or scratches?
It adds a hard, thin protective layer but doesn't stop deep impacts or rock chips. Paint protection film is the product built specifically for that kind of physical damage.
Do I still need to wash my car after it's coated?
Regular washing is still required, but a coated car is noticeably easier to clean since dirt and grime don't bond to the surface the way they do on bare paint.
Can coating be applied over existing swirl marks?
Technically yes, but it's not recommended. Whatever imperfections exist in the clear coat get sealed in and are much harder to remove afterward, which is why correction is usually done first.
Is ceramic coating worth it on an older car?
It can be, especially if the paint is in good condition after correction. The value comes from protecting the current state of the paint going forward, not reversing years of existing damage on its own.

Will paint correction remove deep scratches?
It removes surface-level imperfections in the clear coat — swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation. A scratch deep enough to reach the base color or metal needs touch-up paint or bodywork, not polishing.
How long does correction take?
A one-step polish can often be done in a few hours. A full multi-stage correction on heavily swirled paint can take a full day or more, since each stage has to be assessed before moving to the next.
Do I need correction if I'm not getting a coating?
No, correction stands on its own. It's common before selling a car, before a big detail, or just to restore gloss that's faded from years of automatic washes.

Does PPF turn yellow over time?
Older films had that reputation. Modern PPF products are UV-stable and resist yellowing for years under normal conditions.
Can PPF be removed without damaging the paint?
Properly installed, high-quality PPF is designed to be removed cleanly without damaging the clear coat underneath, though removal is a job for a professional, not a DIY peel.
Is PPF or ceramic coating better?
They're not really competing products. PPF handles physical impact protection, ceramic coating handles chemical and UV protection plus easier washing. Many owners run both.
Do self-healing films actually work?
Yes, within limits. Light swirl marks and fine scratches in the film itself soften and disappear with heat, from the sun or a heat gun. Deep cuts or rock chip punctures won't self-heal.
